So, next week is the week I do the dinners for the VBS at church. I've got everything planned, a nice amount of stuff donated, and don't really need to worry about the produce thanks to said donations.

I'm actually really excited! But then, most of you probably get why. I get to make dinner for 25 people all next week. It's my first time doing so many meals in a row, and hey, it'll keep me out of the house next week when it'll probably be 90+ each day. Of course I still have to do some prep-work at home, but that's to be expected. If I can do this, surely I can do catering at some point, right?

I think the meal I'm looking forward to the most is the baked "fried" chicken. It actually tastes like it's fried, but isn't as unhealthy. And it even tastes good cooled-- I tried it out this week just to make sure.

This week was busy too, with the concert and trains, and getting to and from different places on time. And, of course, involved a severely un-nutritious dinner on Thursday at the concert that consisted of... gummy bears and whale-crackers (like goldfish, but actually yummier!). Then there was work, too, and a baby shower today to help with...

It's no wonder I'm tired, and this post is disjointed. XD It's either the week, or the fact I took benedryl for allergies. Either way, I think I'm going to watch Numb3rs now. Possible Carnivale. I still need to decide.

A wonderful song of wonderfulness. )

I've really got nothing more useful to say right now. Not really! Ha. I just need to sleep before work, and start planning what stuff I need to make and freeze for the VBS dinners. Annnnd... that's about it, yep! I probably shouldn't post on, like, three hours of sleep. At least the video is amusing?

...useless post! :D I do so love them. Or, what would this be called? GIP? Gratuitous Icon Post or whatever? Whatever the term is, though, that's what it is. Bought myself a paid account for another year, and I finally have space for some new icons. Of course, they consist mainly of Twin Peaks and Lee Pace, but that's just because I'm awesome.

There seriously isn't any other reason for why I'm posting, not really. Went to another wedding today, only no dancing at this one. Saaad. Well, aside from the "first dance", and that was nice. Good food, good friends-- I just love weddings. I have definite plans for my own, too, when that comes around, but who knows when that'll be. But I'm not worried.

I should probably sleep, and I will soon. Once I'm done poking around at some things, and maybe watch another episode of Numb3rs. Every time I see Charlie Eppes, all I can think of is Mr. Universe from Firefly. Oh, and my old laptop has definitely, without a doubt, given up the ghost. It doesn't like to charge anymore, not really, and the cord gets really hot when I try. So I have to use Sarah's lappy, at least until I buy my own. But, that'll be soon. :D Looking forward to it.

Now to order Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and... yeah, go to bed. My brain isn't braining. :P

Meaning, the temperature right now. Compared to yesterday, when it felt like a rain forest outside, tonight is actually nearly chilly! I'm enjoying it immensely. :D Though of course we'll likely not have another night like this until it's nearly fall, but I'm keeping my fingers cross that that isn't the case. :P Who knows, maybe the really hot temperatures were just a fluke? I really have no idea, I guess I'll just have to see what the summer has in store for us in PA.

But, if it gets hot all over again, there's always the movie theater. Having a job is nice, and so is living in a town where the matinee showings are six dollars. It's a much less expensive way to keep cool than, say, shelling out the hundreds needed for a pool pass, considering I probably wouldn't go enough to make that worthwhile. Plus, there's a lot of good movies coming out this summer. Of course the two I was really waiting for are past by now... but still. There's Captain America coming up (yay!) and also The Help. I'm currently in the middle of reading the book, so I'm hoping the movie does it justice.

Now, though, I'm exhausted and should probably scurry off to bed. My allergies kept me up all last night, and work was a lot of running around, trying to get everything done on time. And kneeling on the floor to clean out cupboards just is not any fun if you spent an hour and a half dancing the night before. So yes, sleep is in order for me before I wind up typing stupidly and making a number of typos. Goodnight, world! (...world took me three tries to type. :P)

A.k.a. a totally useless post.

I've completely finished the game that they have for Chrome-- did Sunday, actually-- and I'm just a little confused. Still. Why in the world do little green pigs need to steal eggs, anyhow? And how do they make such dumb houses?

I know, I know. It's a game, and not meant to raise questions... but I still want to know! It confuses me greatly, why they do this-- only, not really. It just amuses me to think about it, in a stupid way.

See, I told you it's a useless post. I'll make up for it with this:

So far they've left me completely alone at work (well, there's still someone who knows how to run the shop in the building) two times! And I'm not doing too badly! :D Here's hoping that it continues to go well. I mean, I'm supposed to close by myself two times a week, so it better go well.

There, not so useless after all.

Or, words. Mainly? Don't grab the steamer, it's not good for you. In fact it hurts. And who wants lattes when it's in the nineties anyhow? My grandparents, and quite a number of other people, apparently. But they're some very silly people, no hot coffee for me. :P

Went to see Thor yesterday, and thought it was quite entertaining, even if I've never been completely enthralled with Thor. Haven't had the chance to read much-- or anything-- with him, really. But, I knew there was a brief Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) cameo, and something to see after the credits, and with Captain America coming out this summer, and the Avengers soon, I figured it'd be worthwhile.

And it was, even if the main thing I came away from the movie with was a burning desire to see This Man (or, link that works more reliably, Tom Hiddleston) play Data if they ever rebooted Star Trek: TNG. And now I really want them to, at the same time as I don't. If they did it well? It could be epic. And if they do it wrong, they're ruining part of my childhood. :P But, as far as I know there aren't any rumors about a reboot. Ah well.

Wouldn't he make the perfect Data, though? And now I really want to rewatch that entire series a lot. I think I have some old VHS SOMEWHERE around here.

Well, today I'm an even more awesome shade of pink. I should take a picture of it and put it where I can see it before leaving the house all summer, just so I don't leave without sunscreen. Because, man I'm hot, and water... probably is helping me feel better than I would be otherwise, but I can't really tell. :P My skin just kind of stings and itches at me. Oh well.

Today we, as is typical, had a cookout. Steak on the grill-- mmm. And tomorrow I'm smoking a pork tenderloin, which'll be so good when I get to turn it into BBQ. I think it'll be a nice ending to a holiday weekend. Of course, it's not very interesting, but if I get out there early enough it won't be too bad, heat wise. And I get Thor to look forward to in the afternoon.

We didn't go see it today, obviously. The Brother got called in last minute to take someone's shift, and we wound up wandering around a local thrift shop for a bit. Got a new shirt, and also a new swimsuit-- later we're headed out for some swimming. Even at 6:30 it should be nice and warm, so no one will freeze when we get out. Or, that's what I'm assuming anyhow. It'd take some freak storm for it to get that chilly, and right now it's nice and lovely bright outside.

Right now, the soundtrack for the afternoon-- and, well, the summer most likely-- is Iron and Wine, The Civil Wars and Adele. Of course there's other music to go along with it, but those bands just always make me think of summer. They're heavy sounding, heavy and slow, like summer. Maybe I should switch to something else, just to trick my body into thinking that it's cooler than it is. Kind of like watching The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe because of the scenes with the snow. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it also just makes the heat feel all the more hot.

Time to go and try and get cool, now. Though I really kind of doubt I'll feel any less warm until I go swimming later. Probably won't feel much like eating, either, at least not until the sun goes down. No, no this does not make me a vampire. It just means it's almost summer. :P

I'm silly and forgot to put on sunscreen today, even knowing it was going to be mostly sunny, and in the eighties. Guess who has a sunburn right now on her face, arms and the back of her neck? Yes, yes, that would be Theresa.

But the church's family (or, well, team) Olympics went off successfully. There was a nice, sizable group, too, which was excellent, even if one of the teams had a strong desire to cheat. Tsk, tsk, you would think that women over the age of 25 would know better, wouldn't you? This was not the case. They were such bad examples for the children. Le sigh. But it only added to the amusement factor of the whole deal, really, and it was all in fun. And I must admit, I was claiming to take bribes to add points on the board for the people who didn't have any.

All in all, the church picnic and the games were fun. Of course, now I'm tired, and have the aforementioned sunburn. Though the burn on my back is more brown than an actual burn. I hope this means I might actually get a tan this summer-- yes, shocker, I'm tired of being really, really pale. Well, really pale or, alternately, bright red! And at least this time it's not like only one side of me is burned. That saves me from having the Phantom of the Opera burn, or a "trucker" burn. And it isn't that bad feeling, at least not right now. I'm expecting the burn to catch up with me though sooner or later, and then I'll probably be whimpering.

Not much to say, other than we did not get to eat the deviled eggs I mentioned in the post previous. We made them, and that was all well and good. They looked delicious, and smelled delicious, and were safely in the fridge-- at least until around midnight last night. Then The Brother needed a snack after he got off work at the station. In the process of getting said snack, he removed the deviled egg box, and then it got left on the counter. And it stayed there all night long. Needless to say, we were not going to be eating those eggs. It was just not worth the risk. Darn, perfectly good food. Wasted.

That was the only mishap, though, and now it's time to relax again-- not that the picnic wasn't relaxing. I've got two more days off after this, and I plan to enjoy them. And, of course, I plan to enjoy work as well when I get back to it. I think the only other plans for this week really is a cookout of some sort tomorrow, and Thor. Other than that it's a matter of winging it, but sometimes that can be really fun. And then, week after that, there are plans to head into Harrisburg to see The First Grader. It looks like a movie that will make me cry, but be quite inspirational-- I can't wait!

Mainly they involve going to a flea market and wanting to come home with all the dishes I can manage to cram into Sarah's car. Fortunately, though, I don't actually fulfill desires such as the above, because it wouldn't end well. I come home with little things, and so long as I don't go every single Saturday it's kind of fun just walking around! I mean there are always interesting and/or bizarre things to look at, after all, and...

...who am I kidding? I still desperately want all the dishes that they have, and they have a lot there. Today I came home with no dishes, but I did get real silver, um... shrimp forks? Even if they're not for shrimp, they are shrimpy in size, and that's what I'll call them. I spent four dollars and got six silver mini-tridents! A.k.a. the shrimp forks. I think they're awesome, and when I polish them up they'll be good for spearing olives and pickles and what-have-you at dinner parties or whatever. I actually like the idea of poking people with them, myself.

Other acquisitions include: Sheets (pretty and floral and they'll go with my sage-green comfy-blanket; a scarab bracelet (perhaps I am a bit obsessed with them?); a pretty red-bead necklace; imitation raspberry extract (I can't find it anywhere!) and curry powder from a Watkins (I think?) booth. I think it's a nice collection of things, and best yet, I don't have to search to hard for a place to put everything. Especially not the extract and the curry powder. Mmm. Both smell delicious, but in different ways. xD

Unfortunately, though comic book I was looking for was more expensive than I thought it would be, and I didn't quite have the money for it. Issue #1 of The Losers will have to wait for another trip to the flea market, whenever that is (probably August or something). It was still a good trip, and I might have even got a bit of a tan (perhaps?) when we were walking around outside.

Now it's time to continue with a marathon of season one of the X-Files. Either that, or watch Babylon 5 or The Fall. All are very good options, though there's also some deviled eggs waiting to be made and some writing and such. So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it. ;)

Good thing I didn't make any promises, right? I mean, considering it's been since last October or whatever since I posted in this thing. *coughs* But I think I've got a good handle on that, now. Maybe? No, actually, who am I kidding? I'm very, terribly scatterbrained when it comes to updating this thing, and... well, maybe it'll change, but who knows (or, really, cares? xD Sporadic updates are a-ok! :P)

But, there are some significant changes since I last updated this thing. Yay for those! Though some of them are just silly and insignificant and just related to unimportant things that I find amusing and interesting but others might not.

Biggest, though, for the moment is that I have a job. And not only do I have a job, but it's a job I actually like. I don't wake up feeling panicked, or sleep in like crazy when I have a day off just so I won't worry about going into work again. I work for the coffee shop at the local library here in town, and sometime in the future (read: when the kitchen actually FINALLY gets finished; so close, so close!) they're very interested in buying baked goods from me. It might be a good thing I talk about what I'm making during downtime at work, perhaps.

But! Right now I can make lattes and cappuccinos and frozen drinks and Italian sodas! And, kinda sorta use the cash register, though every now and then it likes to scream at me. Unfortunately, when there are customers around, I can't scream back at it. =( This makes me just a little sad, but I'm remembering to correct it well? Even if I can't always remember the prices for some things. Le sigh. It's all good, and I couldn't ask for a better smelling place to work. Even if I'll probably smell like coffee for the rest of my life, eventually. It's all good.

In non-work-related news, the other coffee shop in town is a wonderful place to hang out, and you know you're at a great place when some of the staff comes by and comments on a card game with "Ooh, Dutch Blitz, I love that game!". These past few months (really, from December on) have been great for just getting out of the house and doing things with friends. Of course, we usually wind up back at the coffee shop, but we've got plans for this summer that take us all over the place, from Centrailia to seeing how many fireworks displays we can get to. And, of course, the Celtic Fling.

Considering I've got sewing, cooking and crocheting to focus on along with writing, staying caught up with reading, and then work as well. This summer is shaping up to be a busy one!

...I should have an easy time coming up with things to write about then, oughtn't I? =) Now to go finish making Strawberry Rhubarb Pie (Ned from Pushing Daisies would be proud! And anyone who likes that pie.), and then Cod Flounder (we couldn't get cod today) Portuguese for dinner. I've got a lovely FIVE day weekend, and I plan to enjoy it (seeing Thor on Monday, can't wait!).

P.S.: Yeah, I'm totally in love with Twin Peaks as well. Upcoming layout? Totally Twin Peaks themed.

Edit: And, hey, look! The recipe in my profile is actually updated. Haha.
